Blue Pass Policy

Students may leave early from school for doctor’s appointments, illness or family emergencies.  Students should attend school everyday, every period.  There is no early dismissal after 2:25 pm.

Parents/Guardians may come in and sign out their student for early dismissal between the hours of 7:35 and 2:25 in student services.

To Call in a Blue Pass (the day of the dismissal)

Parents must call Student Services at 561-241-2215 ahead of the dismissal time to request their student leave early from school.

Calls can be made between 6:45am – 1:40pm, the day of the early dismissal.

Dismissal times for students are only between classes.

Students may only pick up their Blue Passes before school, between classes or during lunch in Student Services.

A Blue Pass will not be issued to leave during lunch between 11:27am -12:02pm. A Blue Pass cannot be obtained for the purpose of getting lunch.

**A student may only have FIVE Blue Passes per semester.  Any request beyond five will have to be approved by that student’s Assistant Principal.

**Failure to follow the early dismissal procedures may result in an unexcused absence and/or disciplinary action. Students returning to school during the same day must check in through Student Services with documentation to have the absence excused.

**The absence due to early dismissal will count towards the student’s total absences.  For mastery purposes a final examination may be necessary for the student to take and pass, if the student exceeds the maximum number of absences per class.

Dress Code

Pride is taken in the appearance of Spanish River Students. School is the student’s place of business and we must prepare them to dress for success. Students must dress in a manner that does not constitute a disruption, safety hazard, or impropriety. The responsibility for the dress and appearance of each student properly rests with the student and his/her parent(s)/guardian(s). The following guidelines are intended to enhance the school environment, minimize distractions, promote a sense of pride, and increase student achievement. Any information within the County Dress Code applies to all students as well.

Clothing must appropriately cover the body. There may be no bare midriffs, bare backs, bare sides, or cleavage showing. All blouses, shirts, and tops must be long enough to be tucked in. Tube, halter, tank tops or spaghetti straps less than 2” wide may not be worn. An athletic jersey without a sleeved t-shirt underneath is not permitted. Clothing must cover all undergarments for all students. Shirts that expose bras and/or bra straps cannot be worn. Sweaters/Jackets are not permitted to hide dress code violations.
